My good friend and advisor Annmarie said this to me the other day. We were discussing the rollout of Business a la Carte™, and I wasn’t enjoying the process of setting up a merchant account.
The customer support and tests from 2 prominent finance institutions were so disappointing that I was losing confidence in this part of the project, and she could see my fear was holding me back.
Her quote made me realize that I wasn’t taking my own advice: That the best way to move past fear was to confront it and get on the other side of it. To believe that, regardless of outcome, I would be fine.
And so, I ate the frog.
Confronting fear is never pleasant. Just like the thought of consuming a slimy amphibian, it can be hard to swallow.
But, once you do, the confidence and feelings of success it brings are much more tasty delights!
