I love this quote from our 16th president. It goes right to the core of conquering anxiety and depression. When you change your thoughts you change your life, and changing a pessimistic thought into a optimistic one is at the heart of positive self talk—exactly what you need on a particularly bad day.
Even if you’re not terrific at moving from negative to positive, you can talk yourself down from the ledge by just observing your thoughts as a distant outsider. Watch how you think—even rate your thoughts from good to bad—then let them pass.
