The Power of Giving Thanks!

Happy Thanksgiving

“The greatest discovery of my generation is that human beings can alter their lives by altering their attitudes of mind.”—William James

Like many people around the country tomorrow, I will be celebrating Thanksgiving—a time for feasting and giving thanks. Early this morning, I asked myself these 2 questions:

What am I most grateful for?

What am I the most proud of?

I wrote down everything that came to mind, and the list came much more easily than expected. When you really focus on the positive, you become aware of all the wonderfulness in your life.

Then, interestingly enough, I decided to record my list on my phone. I intend to replay it often, because I found that when I spoke my gratitude, it had quite an impact on my mood. It was not only comforting, but so uplifting and empowering! Even my voice changed from quiet reflection to high motivation.

And, the beauty is that I can play this recording again and again–anytime I need to feel this way.

You can do this too, and you will be amazed! Your ability to speak with an attitude of gratitude, and talk to yourself in a compassionate, appreciative way is a very powerful catalyst to positive change.

Try it and see.

You can thank me later! :)

For now, to you and yours:
Happy Thanksgiving!!
